NOT GUILTY: Child Molest (People v. J.J.)

J.J. was charged with numerous felonies for inappropriately touching his grandchild. Given J.J.’s age, he would not outlive the sentence he was facing. His granddaughter accused him of inappropriately touching her on numerous occasions. The charges came out of the blue and dated back several years.

There was no physical evidence to support the charges. But the social workers who interviewed the granddaughter felt her allegations were credible. And so did the District Attorney. A jury trial followed our extensive investigation and the jury returned NOT GUILTY verdicts on eight of the nine charges. The court declared a mistrial on the remaining count. The case settled for a non-sex related misdemeanor with a small fine.
