NOT GUILTY: Child Molest (People v F.Z.)

A friend of F.Z.’s granddaughter accused him of touching her inappropriately. F.Z. was was in his late 60’s and had never been in trouble. He was a widower and his adult son and granddaughter lived with him.

The complaining witness, the granddaughter’s friend, would stay after school at F.Z.’s home until her mother picked her up after work. After a school break, the complaining witness told her mother she didn’t want to go back to F.Z.’s house because he made her feel uncomfortable.

She eventually told her mother—and the authorities—that F.Z. had molested her. F.Z. was facing a life sentence if convicted. The jury found him NOT GUILTY of all charges.
